Why I joined Sigmas: It was really easy to get stuck in a social bubble, almost natural. I had lots of friends (mostly those majoring in Computer Science and/or Engineering) and I came out to events (mostly hackathons), but there was more to me as a person than just my career choice and I wanted to externalize that. I wanted to meet different kinds of people and be involved in different kinds of events. Sigmas, with its wonderful diversity, every day gives me the opportunity to do just that.

Why I joined Sigmas: "What drew me to Sigmas was the philanthropy - combatting violence against women is something that I'm really passionate about, but it's the sisterhood that made me stay. My sisters are people I can truly be myself around and who have my back and are always encouraging me to step out of my comfort zone and be a better person."

Why I joined Sigmas: “Ever since I went to Rutgers, I always felt I was missing something. Now I have finally found it, the love and support from all my sisters! The sisters of Sigma Psi Zeta have always welcomed me with open arms and I hope to contribute by helping others feel the same!”

Why I joined Sigmas: "Originally, I did not attend rush events with the intention of actually becoming a sister. I had attended some other rush events for other organizations in the past, and from those experiences I concluded that Greek life was not for me. However, when I actually had the opportunity to meet the Sigmas sisters and learn about the history and core values of this organization, I became interested in joining. The sisters were so welcoming and showed me that there was not one mold for everyone to fit into. The organization itself was diverse in so many different ways, and each sister had her own identity within and outside the sorority. For the first time in my college career, I felt the inclination to be part of the Greek community through Sigmas. "

Why I joined Sigmas: "I joined Sigmas because I truly believe that they are the most down to earth sorority on campus. After talking with them and truly getting to know most of the sisters, I learned to be able to open myself up and become someone who I want to be rather than someone I force myself to become. I felt that Sigmas was the place that I truly belonged in, and I really believe that I can grow as a person here. To me, their philanthropy also stands boldly and strong."

Why I joined Sigmas: "First and foremost, I joined Sigmas to be apart of something greater than myself. There was something about Sigmas that signaled to me that the organization was strong and vibrant and wanted to do a lot for the local community. I was also really drawn to the philanthropy that Sigmas represents. Combating violence against women is something that really hits home for me and I wanted to be close to like minded, strong women. As I have become apart of Sigmas, I have learned the true value of sisterhood and friendship between women. Everyone was so welcoming that I couldn’t help but just fall in love with everyone there."
