Why Sigma Psi Zeta?

Ask any one of our sisters that question and you'll have a hard time getting her to stop talking! We all joined for different reasons, but what binds us together is our desire and ambition to become better women, to become leaders in our communities, and to change the world. We recognize that there is no "perfect sister"; our differences are what enhance and enrich this sisterhood. We have sisters from all walks of life and it is their personal stories and their individuality that make Sigmas such a wonderful organization to be part of. There's always something to learn and someone to learn from.

Sigmas is a sisterhood of empowered women who empower each other - we know that in Sigmas, we always have a group that we can truly be ourselves around, a group that always has our backs and encourages us to step out of our comfort zones and become a better person. It doesn't matter where you are - you will always have a home wherever a sister is.

What is recruitment?

Recruitment is a two week period of fun and informative events for you to get to know what Sigma Psi Zeta is all about - our goals, what it means to us, as well as get to know our sisters through events hosted by us. All events are free with no obligation to join, and rides will be provided by sisters. There are plenty of opportunities to get to know everyone, so come out, have fun with us, and most importantly, be you! We can't wait to meet you!

Who is recruitment for?

Anyone! If you are interested in learning what Greek life is all about, we encourage you to get to know us. Though we are an Asian-interest sorority, we do not limit ourselves to just those of Asian heritage. Our sisters come from all races, lifestyles, ages, grades, states, or countries, both here at Rutgers and nationally. Asian-interest means that you envision the same goals and care about the same issues. We also encourage any incoming freshmen who are adjusting to college life to come out to meet new people!

How do I qualify for an interview/bid?

In order to qualify for an interview/bid - which is a formal invitation to join our sisterhood - you must attend at least one general interest meeting (GIM) and two other events. This is to ensure that you understand what SYZ stands for, what you can bring to the sorority, and what it can give you. If you think Sigma Psi Zeta is something you are seriously considering, we encourage you to attend all of our recruitment events as this will help both you and ourselves determine if this sorority fits you!
